Why can you donate blood after getting a tattoo?is there any exceptions?
With exeptions i mean if a family member need a blood transfusion are allowed to donate blood?
It’s because people with tattoos are at risk for hepatitis from dirty needles used in the tattooing process, so the Red Cross doesn’t take them. And I don’t think there are exceptions… but you can always ask.
Not at a blood bank. Right at the hospital you might be able to convince you doctor.

You usally can't donate blood right after getting a tattoo. But I am not aware of a country that refuses blood donors with tattoos completely. The most common time frame you will have to wait before donating seems to be six to twelve months. If you got any infection while getting a tattoo, blood banks figure you know after that time frame. All donated blood is tested for infections anyway, also non-profit organizations get a lot of cash for your blood but they don't want to "waste" money testing your blood if they think that there is a good chance of it being infected.

i dont think so cuz the ink from the tat got in ur blood and can change ur blood and if u do donate blood u can kill the poor victim and so i dont think its such a good idea to donate blood w/ a tat and u might wanna talk to a doc.

It's all about the risk factor…..
Not all of the Tattoo parlors are as clean as the big fancy ones…..
Some don't clean their needles well, and so you might have aquired hepatitis, HIV, Cyphillis, and other STDs

The waiting for the Red Cross AFTER getting a tattoo is 1 year. There website has been updated but is not clear. Now there is something about whether or not your state requires a license… I believe most do but does not state what the time limit would be for those licensed states. I just got mine on Friday… I want to donate but if I can’t , I can’t… they will see me in a year.
wish the politicians would think like this… lol…

Haha, well this person better not donate cause their blood obviously has stupid in it…..
Speaking of “stupid people”…
What kind of tattoo are you getting if you are contracting an STD? Last time I checked, tattoos had absolutly NOTHING to do with what is represented by the “S” in STD.
Hello, I work at a donor center in a hospital and you are allowed to give blood as long as your tattoo was done in a licenced facility, If you had your tattoo done by someone without a licence you are required to wait one year. I hope that helps.
Hello Lisa,
Thank you very much for that clarification. Is there some kind of verfication required to show that the tattoo was done in a licenced facility?
Good to hear that I can still donate blood… I has been a part of my life donating blood. Aside from its benefits for my body I can still help save lives. Thank you for the clarification.
